Wow. The blog has been a bit tweaky lately....It occasionally loads px sideways....Ok. We went to the Augusta Heritage Festival in Elkins, WV again this year. I taught weaving again (12 students...thank you Sharon for being such a great assistant!) Zoe and Brigid took a felting class and there was a special guest attendee....JoJo! Now, I will give her an opportunity to post her own px of her work but if they do not surface soon, we will do it for her. All three did a great job under less than perfect circumstances (no a/c in the classroom building; cement floors with no mats to stand on; use of muscles they had no idea they owned; hilly terrain no matter where you went; lots of rain and humidity; no a/c in the dorms; and an instructor who, although very lovely, tends to over instruct). They did mainly 3d objects - B did mini (Minny?) moose from a cartoon show, a a killer earflap hat; Z a fab beret, an animal that might be an elephant or a pig, and a lizard for Rob. Mom did two great purses (do not let her tell you otherwise....). They also did some phenomenal needle felting (the decorations on Bs yellow hat and on Zs lizard). Our camp buddies attended again (Sharon, Gayle, Aran and Robbie). We have been to camp with them 5 of the last 6 years I think. Sharon was my weaving assistant. She does beautiful work. A and B were Warp and Weft of last year (go ahead, check out last years' Augusta blog entries). And mom got to meet RP, who has to be the most ecclectic person I have ever met. I will let her tell you stories! They had a blast together at meal times discussing a myriad of topics (what is archeo-astronomy? And is he really an official Mayan 2012 calendar myth debunker?? ).
Now, we have all spent a bit of time together lately - the trip to East Jordan and then Elkins. We ended up cancelling our trip to Mi this week. Not that we were all tired of each other (well, maybe a little....) but my friend Kim has not been well. I opted to be here to run her to a variety of dr appts this week. So hopefully we will make it up for Thanksgiving or some other time in the fall.
And for all your alpaca fiber processing needs, Craig and I did decide to go ahead and order the equipment from Stonehedge in East Jordan. It should arrive here at the end of Nov or begin of Dec. We are finalizing building designs and need to get that up and ready. The Fiber Mill at 84 Alpacas will be opening for business hopefully by February 2011.
Happy 40th Troy!
Sorry to miss the shower Amy. We thought we might make this Sat but no. Will send a gift up soon.
